Star Trek star Anton Yelchin, who was found dead early Sunday morning at his San Fernando Valley home, suffered severe injuries to his chest and head when his Jeep accidentally fell into neutral, slid backwards, and pinned him between his car and a brick mailbox. Sources connected with the investigation now say they believe he died within one minute of impact. The cause of death was confirmed as an “accident caused by blunt traumatic asphyxia,” with the police calling the tragic situation “just one of those freak accidents.”
“Within one minute of impact.”
On the one hand, it’s good to know he didn’t suffer long. Being crushed to death is a helluva way to go, one you wouldn’t wish on anybody.
On the other hand, one minute can seem like an eternity.
So I don’t know if this is good information to release to the public or not.
TMZ went on to say:
We’re told the 27-year-old actor had no history of drugs, and no prescriptions or alcohol were found in the vehicle. Investigators determined Yelchin was not known to smoke marijuana.
We’re also told there were security cameras trained on the gate and police are looking to see if they captured the accident.
As we reported, the Jeep had been recalled a month earlier because the e-shift created a dangerous situation where drivers put the vehicle in neutral, thinking it was in park.
