Gigi Hadid just had a rather spectacular month, modeling in NY, London, and Paris for designers like Diane von Furstenburg, Tommy Hilfiger and Versace. She’s IT. She’s GORGEOUS. And she SHOULD BEe on top of the world. But apparently she’s been having some trouble with social media trolls – surprise, surprise – who’ve been trying to body shame her for not having a perfect little skinny-minnie model body.
After admitting she “let the negativity get to [her] a little,” she took to Instagram to put the haterz in their place.
“I represent a body image that wasn’t accepted in high-fashion before,” she wrote, “and I’m very lucky to be supported by designers, stylists, and editors that I am: ones that know this is fashion, it’s art; it can never stay the same. It’s 2015. Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment. Your mean comments don’t make me want to change my body.”
Read it in its entirety below.
She even took to Twitter to show other models and celebs her appreciation of their differing body types:
