Dawn Bancroft and Diana Santos-Smith were arrested and charged. There is audio of them threatening to kill Speaker Pelosi.
Federal prosecutors charged them in connection with the January 6 riot at the US Capitol in Washington.
Bancroft and Santos-Smith were charged for violent entry on Capitol grounds, remaining in a restricted area and disorderly conduct in a restricted building.
They can be heard on video making violent remarks about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In an affidavit, investigators cited a “selfie” video they say was taken by Bancroft. She says, according to the affidavit.
“We broke into the Capitol. … We got inside, we did our part. We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain, but we didn’t find her.”
Santos-Smith told investigators that she and Bancroft did not go into any chambers or offices, and that the two were inside the Capitol for less than a minute.
The Huffington Post‘s senior justice reporter, Ryan J. Reilly posted on Twitter,
1) The FBI, in a departure from normal practice, says basically nothing about the source that sent them the “selfie” video of the pair inside the Capitol. 2) Bancroft sent her kids video of the pair inside the Capitol, and then told them to delete it.
According to the DOJ, the two women were arrested on Friday.
Two things of note:
