Vogue editor Phyllis Posnick discusses a controversial Irving Penn photograph of an naked, overweight woman that was used in a story on obesity. “I talked to Penn about it,” she says, “and we both felt the best way to illustrate it was to get a woman who was very overweight.” After looking at about 20 girls they settled on one. “We didn’t set out to do a shocking picture at the expense of the model.
