Billy Bloom keeps on blooming. The too-too modest James St James claims that the continuing acclaim for his Freak Show novel is due to his using the secret of The Secret‘s positive thinking technique to seduce the critics and public. It certainly worked on the New York Post‘s William Georgiades in his “Required Reading” column:
“How does a gay teenager deal with a Florida of bible thumping jocks? Given St. James’s propensity for drawing on his own life experience, it’s safe to say Billy will turn out to be just fine, winning everyone over while retaining his fabulosity. “Freak Show” is one of those rare and wonderful books that talks to young people, as opposed to at them. It’s a touching, genuine and finely wrought work, well worth surreptitiously handing over to any miserable-looking teen.”
