On the first season of the ABC show (which ended in 2012) Lynette and husband, Tom (Doug Savant), come to the conclusion that they must pitch in a bit more financially if they want their young twin sons to be accepted into a prestigious private school. (Huffman’s real-life husband Willian H. Macy has not been charged in the admissions scandal.)
And in another instance of TV foreshadowing life, a 1993 episode of Full House, Lori Loughlin — who played Becky — is put in a similar situation in the episode, Be True to Your Preschool, Loughlin’s character and her husband, Jesse, played by John Stamos, are forced to make a tough decision between wanting the best for their kids and potentially committing a crime.
After realizing their twin boys won’t be admitted into a prestigious San Francisco preschool, Jesse decides to take matters into his own hands by taking the “fast track” and fabricating information on the application form. Jesse says in the episode.
“The most important thing in the world right now is their education. I’m their father — if I don’t lie for them, who will?“
But Loughlin’s character feels uneasy about the whole thing and comes forward to the school administrators about the plan.
Twitter users have singled out some of Loughlin’s recent tweets, where she wrote,
“There are more important things than money. Like doing the right thing.“
Laughlin deleted her Instagram and Twitter accounts shortly after the federal indictment was unsealed. Loughlin, paid admissions consultant William Singer and his nonprofit organization, Key Worldwide Foundation. according to court documents,
“bribes totaling $500,000 in exchange for having their two daughters designated as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew — thereby facilitating their admission to USC.“
Full House fans also remembered that Uncle Jesse once wound up in jail on the same day that he and Becky were supposed to marry.
Huffman and Loughlin have both have been indicted and real prison time for the Hollywood stars is looking more likely.
