A Christmas Message:
It’s Christmas. A good time for some and a sad time for others feeling broke, lost, or perhaps missing someone who isn’t there anymore. Things come to a head this time of year emotionally. Truly, a white Christmas is one step away from frostbite or choking grandma.
In reviewing the year, I remain inspired by drag because it clearly illustrates the pliability of personality. When you are born, the world sets the stage for you, but you can take control of the production. You can constantly morph, move, vogue, and be thankful that the you who you think you are doesn’t definitively exist.
Some people still think it’s aberrant to be gay, enjoy sex, take risks, or offend. They do not matter. Twenty-five percent of people will love you, 25% will loathe you, and 50% could go either way. If you see something that isn’t there and could be (“I am fabulous and no one knows it yet.”), it’s madness but it’s also creativity because you are not your current circumstances. Which is the reason to put on your best wig, your best “pulling pants,” and your best attitude and not be afraid.
It’s been a pleasure to write for you on this blog, and I like to think those who read it are pushing the limits, either their own or what is acceptable. Have faith and keep putting it out there. You’ll find your audience.
Have a beautiful Christmas.
