The Hollywood Reporter just came out with a list in their new A-List issue, of who makes what and of course, the top quote belongs to Leonardo DiCaprio, who was paid $25 million up front for The Wolf of Wall Street. But that amount also included his producing fee, and if there were budget overruns, he had to defer some of his salary. The $20 million club includes Robert Downey Jr., Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Denzel Washington and Matt Damon (but no Clooney or Pitt) Following the huge success of American Sniper and his three Oscar noms, Bradley Cooper is expected to get upwards $15 million to $20 million a picture and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become the new Arnold and commands $15 million a picture too. That’s what he got for Hercules and the upcoming San Andreas.
Just four gals are in the $15 million-plus range: Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie, Melissa McCarthy and Jennifer Lawrence (no more Julia Roberts, huh?) Bullock is still the highest-earning actress after her spectacular deal for Gravity saw her take home more than $70 million. McCarthy can earn big bucks for starring roles and Jolie earned more than $15 million for Disney’s Maleficent, and she could get $20 million in the event of a sequel. JLaw got $10 million for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and insiders think she might easily get $15 mill or more for another franchise film But hardly anyone gets the type of gigantic back-end deal that stars used to get, when many were given 20% of first-dollar gross. The tech times they are a changin’ in Hollywoodland but so far, they still need movie stars and they pay them accordingly –which is WAY too much.
