You guys totally remember Macy Gray, right? She sang the brilliant Grammy-winning song “I Try” way back in 1999. And then wore that HIDEOUS self-promoting dress to the 2001 VMAs? Well, she has a new Christmas tune, and it’s kind of amazing. It’s called “All I Want For Christmas” but it isn’t a cover of Mariah’s 1994 song…
Macy Gray said this about her new holiday jingle:
We were researching to try and redo one of the classics, but they’d all been done so we decided to do an original. The usual thing is to do a love song. Then I thought about what I really wanted for Christmas, and as an artist, it’s weird to go in and create without considering the things going on politically and socially.
The chorus is sung by the Agape Youth Choir from the International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles. You can get Macy Gray’s “All I Want For Christmas on iTunes and Amazon. Enjoy!
