Rather than completely cancel the wildly sexist ’50s classic “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” John Legend and Kelly Clarkson have put a woke, 21st century spin to their reimagining of the song. Whereas the original was chock full of alarmingly nonconsensual lyrics – in which the male singer rather forcefully tried persuading his female guest to stay, despite her insistence that, “I’ve got to go away,” and, “The answer is no” – the new version has lines like “Text me when you get home,” and “It’s your body and your choice.”
Is it an improvement? Or should they have just let well enough alone? Listen and decide for yourself, below.
The second song is an all-new Jonas Brothers holiday bop, their first in 11 years!
You make every day feel like it’s Christmas/ Never wanna stop/ Feeling like the first thing on your wish list/ Right at the top/ I can’t deny what I’m feeling inside/ Nothing fake about the way you bring me to life/ You make every day feel like it’s Christmas/ Every day that I’m with you,” the band sings on the festive tune.
Watch out Mariah, this feels like a CLASSIC!
