Country music star Ty Herndon and his husband, Alex Schwartz tied the knot this weekend in a down-home-style wedding.
According to People, more than 300 guests, including Kristin Chenoweth, her fiancé, Josh Bryant, and Sally Struthers, gathered for an outdoor ceremony Saturday on a farm in Chapmansboro outside Nashville.
Former Avalon member Michael Passons, former GLAAD vice president (my friend) Zeke Stokes, and Erik Halbig, Herndon’s producer and guitarist, were groomsmen.
The Christian group Avalon’s former vocalist Melissa Greene officiated the wedding, directed by Bonnie Hadden, a good friend of Herndon’s who also manages the musician’s fan club.
Herndon told People,
We knew we wanted something that captured our personalities, and we fell in love with this place as soon as we saw it. We used the wedding scene in the movie of The Proposal as a bit of a reference.
We just wanted a space and a place that could accommodate our eclectic group of friends and family to celebrate love, life, and our future together.
That was the main thing that was important to us — and that everyone have a lot of fun.”
Following six months of dating, the couple got engaged in February, a year after they were introduced at a dinner party by a mutual friend.
ConDRAGulations, gentlemen!
Not to be a downer, but on the same day more than 200 people were arrested Monday at a wedding in Nigeria.
