While Pete Doherty was in The Priory, the north London rehab clinic, his fellow cohabs included Keane singer Tom Chaplin and The Darkness’s Justin Hawkins. We assume it was their unfamiliar surroundings that encouraged the trio to socialize, even though Chaplin had not long ago said he thought Doherty was “a waste of skin.” One thing led to another and they began playing music together between group sessions of a different kind. “Tom was the first to play the piano in one session for some of the patients,” an insider told The Sun. “After that Pete and Justin chipped in and suggested they write some music.” Before long, they had formed a kind of sober supergroup. “Pete and Justin have struck up a particularly strong friendship,” says that insider, “and Pete has invited Justin to perform with Babyshambles this weekend.” Developing.
