Thirty-four years after he died in a bathtub in Paris (tres romantique!), the state of Florida has found and restored what is probably the earliest footage of Jim Morrison, who wanted to be a filmmaker before he read some poetry and did some serious penis gazing and was shown the way to the next whisky bar. It’s a promotional film, shot in the early ’60s for Florida State University when he was a student there. The film was discovered last year at a university-operated PBS station by someone who freaked when he recognized the Lizard King. If you force yourself, you can read foreshadowing into it. (Yahoo)
Morrison is seen walking to a mailbox and opening a letter. He stops suddenly with his leg thrust forward as a voiceover says, “We regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your application.” A little while later, Morrison is in a university office, dressed in a jacket and tie and questioning authority.
