We were minding our own business, browsing the Deadline New York site, when we came across a post on Barbra Streisand. It was kind of a did-you-know situation. Did you know that the singer-actor-producer-director has won two Oscars, five Emmys, 10 Grammys, and 12 Golden Globes? And that the three films she directed have earned 14 Academy Award nominations? That Streisand is the only artist ever to receive an Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, and Peabody Award, as well as France’s Legion d’Honneur and the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award? That she is also the first female movie director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors? And that, as an activist and philanthropist, her Streisand Foundation has given millions of dollars in more than 2100 grants to over 700 non-profit organizations, including her substantial underwriting of the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Hospital. No, neither did we.
