Not sure how I feel about these, but Skullcandy Headphones (which was the only headphones I used on radio for years) has come out with a line of headphones just for us women. Skullcandy has recognized that women “hear differently” than men. Since Dr. Dre’s Beats came out and changed the face (and more notably, the price) of headphones, other big players have followed suit and upped their games….and subsequently, their prices. The same goes for these workout headphones with an innovative design not to slip in any workouts. These particular ones will also not ruin your hairdo, they are pretty, collapsable and come in a fancy wristlet. I feel like it’s all the same shit at this point, only these are 100 bucks vs. a buck fifty or higher. Check them out Audio product reviews over here.
These wired running headphones can be closed back or open back, which can greatly alter the way they sound. By design, closed back headphones trap the sound may have a bit better bass reproduction and better noise isolation, but the sound can appear to emit from “inside your head”, with a very narrow sound stage. Aside from a basic stereo effect, instruments and vocals may seem a bit crammed together, instead of spread apart as they would be in a concert arena, jazz club or opera house. Bass reproduction can be acceptable, especially on models that are designed with extra bass in mind. The bass can be EQ’d if it’s overwhelming. Better to have it and not need it. Closed back phones may also get a bit warm around your ears, with no ventilation, so that’s another issue to consider.
