Since the early ’90s, Fenton and Randy’s creative partnership has grown to become one of the most impressively self-sustaining in the field and has allowed them to flourish as both artists and entrepreneurs. This 3-hour master class offers an up-close-and-personal look at how Fenton and Randy have managed to build such a successful and lasting creative enterprise. Starting with their latest feature doc – the dazzling Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures for HBO – Fenton and Randy will look back over their careers and discuss the artistic vision, creative process, and business acumen that they have applied to the dozens of projects that they have directed and produced over the years.
From Party Monster to Inside Deep Throat to The Eyes of Tammy Faye and Becoming Chazand now with Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures, Fenton and Randy have made a name for themselves by producing and directing masterful documentaries that tackle iconic figures and topical issues of popular/high culture. Also, acting as producers, they have worked with directors to nurture important socially challenging films, like their recent Out of Iraqdocumentary. But that is only part of the story. Beyond their documentary feature work, Fenton and Randy are among the most prolific and respected producers in the business. Through their World of Wonder Productions, they have created many hit television series, from Million Dollar Listing to RuPaul’s Drag Race – a cultural phenomenon of its own, now in its 8th season. They also have numerous projects on a variety of media platforms, from The WOW Report, a hugely popular blog and Sirius XM radio show, to WOW Presents, a signature digital channel and MCN network on YouTube.
