We were confused for a moment whizzing through a story in The Hollywood Reporter about Scrubs/Garden State phenom Zach Braff’s new movie project. We thought we read that Open Hearts was written by will shepherd, a screenwriter smitten with ee cummings and thus going the attention-getting lower-case-name route. But no. The sentence in question was this: But Braff ultimately was swayed by the opportunity to reunite with Paramount’s Pam Abdy, who produced “Garden State” and will shepherd “Open Hearts” for the studio alongside Brad Weston. Of couse, there’s no confusion if you PAY ATTENTION. But in our defense, who says somebody “will shepherd” a movie, unless they’re talking about corralling all those sheep in Brokeback Mountain? Nobody.
