A pamphlet being circulated among parents, teachers, and counselors by Britain’s National Health Service in and around the Sheffield area advises that students maintain a healthy diet of fruit, vegetables, exercise, and sex. Claiming “an orgasm a day keeps the doctor away,” it goes on to cite health experts who advocate not only fruits and veggies five times a day and 30 minutes of physical activity three times a week, but also intercourse or masturbation twice a week. (Ed note: Aren’t kids already masturbating at least twice a day?) The NHS’ handout admonishes that sex education for teens has spent way too much time drumming in the ideas of safe sex and loving relationships while ignoring the fact that sex just feels so damned good. The pamphlet’s detractors find this approach to sex ed “deplorable.” (Times Online)
