A group of far-right conservative pastors from churches around Central Florida (of course) are organizing a Make America Straight Again conference to coincide with both with Pride month and the three-year anniversary of the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub.
Pastor Patrick Boyle of the Revival Baptist Church said,
“We’ve chosen this place and time because this is their gay Pride week in Orlando, and they’re going to be out and proud of who they are and daring someone to say something, and we’re going to go ahead and take them them up on it. We’re going to be giving them our view — or rather, God’s view — on it.
They are beyond reach, the Sodomites. We are not trying to reach them. We are trying to warn society that if we embrace that, you are going to lose your children … The schools are telling them it’s an alternative lifestyle choice”
(Btw, Orlando’s Pride week is officially celebrated in October).
He’s previously said,
• all gay people should be executed
• celebrated the Pulse nightclub massacre
• is a holocaust denier
• openly prayed for the death of President Barack Obama.
Among the conference participants is Steven Anderson, the Arizona pastor who celebrated the Pulse shooting by saying,
“The good news is that there’s 50 less pedophiles in this world, because, you know, these homosexuals are a bunch of disgusting perverts and pedophiles.”
A group of atheist YouTubers are organizing against the conference. They say they value
“debate and free speech as well as protecting those who have been marginalized against those who would do them harm”
“They are going to be out there protesting love, love, love — yet if we can make a compilation of the voicemails from these crowds, it’s all but love … They hate us, and I don’t have any qualms with saying I hate them.”
The “Make America Straight Again” conference is supposed to begin tomorrow, June 14. So far, the location has not been released as of this writing.
I think God actually cleared up the issue with simple tweet,
