Do we have to call it a McLobster Roll? Well, Mickey Dee’s is adding the summer seafood sandwich to menus across New England as of Saturday. They say their lobster roll is made with
“100 percent North Atlantic lobster and mayonnaise” that is loaded onto a bed of lettuce stuffed between a toasted bun.
And it’s pretty good for you, as fast food goes –it’s only 290 calories! (The Big Mac is 530) American McDonald’s sold lobster rolls 10 years ago and a company spokesperson says;
“The return of the Lobster Roll is exciting because we have requests for it every summer.”
To be honest, I’m kind of excited myself! I don’t eat meat, but I do eat seafood and I’ll admit, I occasionally indulge in their fish filet sandwich. McDonald’s locations in Canada have them and they include shredded lettuce, diced celery, and lemon flavoring in addition to the lobster and mayonnaise. We’ve heard, it’s pretty good, the bread is just “subpar.” Well, if driving out to Montauk or P-Town isn’t an option, the McLobster just might have to McDo. I think I just might have to get myself one today! I’ll report back here on the taste.
