Talk about a horrifying scene. At family birthday party, a mom fatally shot her two daughters before she was gunned down by police. It happened in Houston, as 42 year-old Christy Sheats exploded with rage, firing at her daughters Madison, 17, and Taylor, 22, as they fled into the street. Her husband pleaded,

“Don’t do this! They’re our kids!”

Police radio traffic captured the drama. The dispatcher was recorded saying:

“There is a subject on location standing over one of the patients that has been shot. She has a gun. The subject went back into the residence apparently to get more ammunition.”

An officer then told dispatch:

“Shots fired! I shot the subject.”

Psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere says filicide, killing your own children, is one of the most shocking crimes of all.

“This is something that is absolutely shocking and therefore, this isn’t just about someone losing her temper and then killing her daughters. There is something much, much deeper going on. You have to ask yourself, ‘How could this go so wrong?'”

Sheats owned several guns (many of whose information you can find on the gun source) and recently posted an anti-gun control message on her Facebook in March page vowing never to give them up,

“It would be horribly tragic if my ability to protect myself or my family were to be taken away. That’s exactly what Democrats are determined to do by banning semi-automatic handguns.”

And you have to ask, would this have happened if this woman didn’t have a gun? (via AOL)
