Yes, his entire family plus administration officials, friends and club members attended a (ticketed) Super Bowl party at Trump International Golf Club.
Cost to taxpayers: $3.4 million dollars.
Tickets were sold for $75 each and just for members of the golf club in West Palm Beach. (Club membership initially costs $450,000, with big annual dues.)
Much of the trip’s cost was for security at the golf club.
White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham gave a (defensive) response when asked about it. She told The Huffington Post,
“The premise of your story is ridiculous and false, and just more left-wing media bias on display. The president never stops working, and that includes when he is at the Winter White House.”
Trump tweeted a photo of himself playing golf on Sunday morning at the club.
Also tweeted out was Trump’s bizarre behavior pretending to conduct the band while the national anthem was played at the Super Bowl.
The watch party of course also doubled as a re-election fund-raising moment, which featured an enormous illustration of him as a football player. The “Trumpettes,” hosted the event.
Lee Greenwood sang at the event and Fox News‘s Sean Hannity, as well as Trump’s most vocal black supports, Diamond and Silk were in attendance. Photos from the event show that his son, Donald Trump, Jr and Melania were also there.
The weekend trip was Trump’s 244th golf outing.
Since he took office, Trump’s golf trips have cost taxpayers $130.4 million.
