The current run of Andrew Lloyd Weber‘s (questionably) iconic musical Cats is getting a jolt of additional star power in the form of one very REAL cat– Grumpy Cat!
Write ET:
Grumpy Cat will be the first actual cat to join the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical — although the show is about cats, it traditionally has an all-human cast, meaning the addition of a genuine cat will certainly make for an interesting show.
The new cast member gave a very appropriate statement about the news: “Being selected as the first real cat to perform in Cats on Broadway is an honor. I hate it,” she said. “If I’m really being honest, I’d prefer to play the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.”
The taciturn tabby will make her debut on Sept. 30. No further information about her role in the show has been announced.
And no word yet if leading lady Leona Lewis feels Grumpy Cat is Nomi Maloning her.
