Thairin and I just got back from the grand opening of the new Komida taco restaurant at 1738 N Orange Drive (just off Hollywood Boulevard). The owners Andre and Alana Ulloa and chef Brock Kleweno couldn’t have been more adorable, the service was a dream, and the hibiscus sangria knocked my socks off. We tried all four tacos (the miso sake black cod, the spiced hoison duck confit, the soy and red wine braised short ribs, and the chicken with peanut sauce), and they were all UNBELIEVABLE. Could have eaten a dozen. And those pickled shishito peppers were absolutely addictive – LOVED THEM! Chef Kleweno says the menu will expand slowly, and you might find a breakfast taco showing up for those Saturday mornings. It’s DEFINITELY worth checking out. It’s sort of tucked out of site, off the street, in the old H Wood space, so go hunting for it.
