Goodbye Guiding Light from ‘the Slut of Springfield’

The Guiding Light goes off the air this week after an incredible 72 years, making it the longest running drama EVER. I’ve never watched it, but even I’ve heard of the incredible Reva Shayne. She’s been a clone, a time traveller, an Amish woman, the princess of San Cristobel, a psychic, a French woman, and a cancer survivor. Here she is in 1984, in one of the most famous moments in all of soap opera history: proclaiming herself “the Slut of Springfield!” (I particularly like the cricket noises in the background, and when she says “Old Reva’s nothin’ if she ain’t obligin’.”)
