Journalist Robin Roberts decided 2023 is the year of saying “yes,” and she’s starting by saying yes to marriage with longtime girlfriend Amber Laign. The couple has been together for 18 years.
Roberts said during a segment on manifestation and intention:
I’m hesitating because I haven’t said it out loud yet. OK, I’m saying ‘yes’ to marriage. We’re getting married this year. It’s something we’ve talked about, but we had put it off because she became ill. But I’m saying yes to that and the next chapter.
Laign had undergone treatment for breast cancer, but in summer 2022, she announced that she was clear.
Roberts quickly added, “We’ve already talked about it– It’s not like she’s hearing this for the first time”
The couple met on a blind date. In 2014 Roberts opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about their arrangement. She also noted that even though Laign was backstage, she would not be popping out to say hi.
