You’ve no doubt seen the footage. A group of friends have gathered atop a very tall bridge overlooking the river at Moulton Falls Regional Park. Sixteen-year-old Jordan Holgerson is repeatedly saying no, she doesn’t want to jump. No, no, no. Suddenly, a “friend” leans in from behind her and gives her a gigantic SHOVE. Jordan screams and then we hear a deadly SPLAT as she hits the water, suffering five cracked ribs and a lung injury. “In midair, I think I might have blacked out,” she later said from her hospital bed, “but I was awake and aware when I hit the water.”
Now prosecutors are are looking into charging the 18-year-old “friend” with criminal offenses.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Taylor Smith, is cooperating with investigators, according to a sheriff’s office press release.
The New York Post, however, has a different take, saying Smith is infuriating her victim’s family and friends by acting as if she did nothing wrong.
While Smith has texted Holgerson to apologize, she has yet to visit her, a family friend griped.
“Taylor has been going out as if nothing happened,’’ the source told the Sun.
“She’s been at a pool party, and there were pictures of her at the county fair with a friend on Instagram. Jordan can hardly walk and is in so much pain — she can’t do any of those things.”
Smith could not be reached for comment.
Regardless, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has completed its investigation into the Moulton Falls bridge incident and is forwarding the case to the prosecutor’s office for consideration of charges.
