National Geographic, Katie Couric, and World of Wonder Production’s collaborated on a moving new project “Gender Revolution” that premieres on February 6th at 9PM E.T. Highlighting the triumphs, struggles, and journeys of intersex, trans, and gender non-conforming, this documentary will reveal and relate the human condition: that we all want equal rights.
Meet Sabel Samone-Loreca:
Sabel Samone-Loreca, a transgender woman and activist, knows the obstacles trans and gender nonconforming people still face today. Homelessness, violence and unemployment are rampant among this community, and in 2016 more transgender people were murdered than any other year on record.
Here’s Sabel in her own words: “I wish assault on the trans community would stop. Gender is so much more than what is between your legs. We all push the gender lines and gender roles in our daily lives, from the way we dress to how we portray ourselves in everyday life.”
