Transparent actress and IMG Worldwide-signed model Hari Nef gave a prolific Ted Talk at Connecticut College last week. She discusses questions of representation and identity that women–particularly trans women–face, and calls for greater tolerance and acceptance of the varying ways they chose to express their femininity.
Spilling truths: One quote particularly stuck with me and something I will consciously educate myself and think about is:
“I believe [Raymond’s] call to femininity, is a call we should all answer. Is it our fault if the dominant man-made beauty ideals exclude most of the bodies that we were born with? And is it bad if we want to do something about that?”
