FOX has just announced the star-studded cast for its upcoming live adaptation of Rent and guess who’s making her live television debut? None other than your RuPaul’s Drag Race season 9 fan-favorite, Valentina!
Assuming the role of Angel, a genderfluid street performer and drag queen, Valentina joins the likes of Wilson Jermaine Heredia, Wilson Cruz, and Pose’s MJ Rodriguez who have played her in past productions. Last year’s Miss Congeniality’s casting also marks the first drag queen to land a role in a primetime live musical adaption.
Accompanying Valentina on FOX’s live adaptation will be Vanessa Hudgens as Maureen, Jordan Fisher as Mark, Brennin Hunt as Roger, Tinashe as Mimi, and Emmy-nominated Brandon Victor Dixon as Angel’s lover, Tom Collins.
We’re gooped, gagged, and geeked for y’all to see our girl in this MAJOR moment and hear her pipes on full display in “Today 4 U”, especially since we haven’t seen her werk it out since Season 9’s Kardashian: The Musical.
