New York City is practically a ghost town these days amid week 3 of a near total shutdown due to the coronavirus. See photographer Ruben Natal-San Miguel‘s recent photos of NYC sans people I posted on The WOW Report here.
This footage, from MoMA‘s collection, was originally shot by a Swedish company, Svenska Biografteatern and a YouTuber slowed it down natural rate and then added ambient sound.
At first, I thought the added sound would be annoying, but it’s so well-matched that it really adds to the “being there” feel. In addition to harbor scenes, you see recognizable icons like the Manhattan Bridge, the Williamsburg Bridge, Fifth Avenue, Chinatown, the Flatiron and Grace Church.
You can almost imagine what it was like in living color.
