Want to feel old? Nevermind is 25. The cover baby, Spencer Elden just recreated the shot taken of him 25 years earlier for the cover of Nirvana‘s classic album.
In homage to the album’s quarter century anniversary, he decided to recreate the pose that gave him his 15 minutes of fame. He wanted to do it in the nude in order to stay true to the original, but the photographer John Chapple talked him out of it. (WTF?!)
“I said to the photographer, ‘Let’s do it naked.’ But he thought that would be weird, so I wore my swim shorts.
Sooner or later, I want to create a print of a real-deal re-enactment shot, completely naked.”
Chapple paid him $200, which is exactly what Elden’s parents were paid for the cover shoot.
Elden told the Post a few years ago,
“it’s cool but weird to be part of something so important that I don’t even remember.”
Since the last recreation he got “Nevermind” tattooed on his chest.
“Every five years or so, somebody’s gonna call me up and ask me about Nevermind… and I’m probably gonna get some money from it.”
See you for the 30th.
