Gloria Swanson – dressed to the nines in black gloves, black Jean-Louis sheath, red feather boa and $170,000 worth of jewels – stands in the ruins of the Roxy Theater in New York after its demolition, lamenting its loss. The enormous movie palace, had its grand opening on March 11, 1927, with the premiere of Gloria Swanson’s film The Love of Sunya. Swanson both produced and starred in the movie. (via Life)
