Bette Midler is performing at the Oscars this Sunday night, singing Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman‘s nominated Best Song, The Place Where Lost Things Go from Mary Poppins Returns.

Here she appears some 45 years before at a Gay Pride March and rally in Washington Square Park in NYC on June 24, 1973. Not great sound, but it’s great Herstory.

She says at the beginning,

“Whenever anyone ask you how you are doing, you must say, ‘Better and better.’“
