Netflix’s new The Boys in the Band is based on the 1968 off-Broadway play that had a Tony-winning Broadway turn in 2018.
It stars Jim Parsons as a prickly host, that gets a group of friends together for a little party. When asked “Who’s coming?” he replies
“Same old tired fairies you’ve seen since day one…”
The full all-star cast that played in the 2018 production is here; Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesus, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, and Tuc Watkins.

This can’t be a first, but it’s rare. The project features exclusively out gay actors in the gay roles of the film.
The original film was released in 1970 from the stageplay written by Mart Crawley, who also wrote the screenplay for Netflix. Crowley won’t be there for the premiere, as he passed away in March.
Directed by Joe Mantello, Boys in the Band is screaming and streaming September 30 on Netflix.
