Miley Cyrus takes a dig at her marriage to Liam Hemsworth in her new single, “Flowers.”
The lyrics have a double meaning referring to both the Malibu home she shared with Hemsworth being destroyed in a 2018 wildfire and detailing how their relationship crumbled over time.
Cyrus is seen dancing through Hollywood looking glam in a gold ensemble as she sings,
We were good
We were gold
Kind of dream that can’t be sold
We were right
‘Til we weren’t
Built a home and watched it burn.
Cyrus also sings that she has “no remorse” and “no regret” and forgets “every word” as she lies by the pool in sexy black lingerie.
I didn’t want to leave you
I didn’t wanna lie
Started to cry but then remembered
I can buy myself flowers
Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours
Say things you don’t understand
To add insult to injury, the song was released just before Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday today.
