Queen of the Universe featured drag sensation Novaczar.
She didn’t advance after episode two, but Queen was just the platform to launch Novaczar into the galaxy and beyond. She just released her debut single.
“Empress’ is my war cry.
It is a cultivation of everything that I have worked for. A climax moment to show the world who I am and what I represent.”
Novaczar is the creation of Noah Spiegel-Blum, who identifies as non-binary. Noah was born in New Jersey, raised in Virginia Beach, but his childhood was not a happy one. His mom passed away when he was in the 7th grade. His (alcoholic) Dad recently died and Noah is estranged from his brother.
When high school rolled around, Noah was accepted into the prestigious Governor’s School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA. It offered him an escape and helped to shape him into the artist that he is.
Novaczar’s influences are Leigh Bowery, Boy George and Klaus Nomi as well as street art. They combine art and fashion to expand the boundaries of what drag can be.
“My hope is that ‘Empress’ allows listeners a little peek into my soul… I channel my love into my music.”
14 drag queens from across the world compete each week to win a $250,000 grand prize in this singing competition with new musical numbers and challenges performed in front of a live studio audience. Hosted by Graham Norton and judged by Michelle Visage, Trixie Mattel, Leona Lewis, and Vanessa Williams.
