This Shakespeare guy is hot!
The latest exciting adaptation from the BBC and Amazon is King Lear with Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins.
Director Richard Eyre‘s new spin sets the action in a fictional present day, where Lear decides to step down from his throne and divide his kingdom among his daughters according to how much they love him. It’s Shakespeare, so needless to say, it all goes VERY badly.
“Better though hadst not been born, than not have pleased me better.“
The feature-length drama was commissioned by the BBC and has already premiered on BBC 2 in the UK, but it airs exclusively on Amazon Prime on September 28 in the U.S. It stars Emma Thompson as Goneril, Emily Watson a Regan, Florence Pugh as Cordelia, and Jim Broadbent as the Earl of Gloucester.
Watch.
