Strange Way of Life, gay Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar’s upcoming movie is out – & it is OUT!
The short film (it’s just 30 minutes long!?) follows Silva (Pedro Pascal) as he travels via horseback across the desert to reunite with Sheriff Jake (Ethan Hawke).
Jake and Silva are former hired guns who are reunited after 25 years apart but are not just old “friends,” but former lovers, with a complicated relationship.
In the one minute trailer Silva yells,
You never loved me, you never loved anyone in your life.”
Sheriff Jake then points a gun at him,
Don’t say that.”
If this situation seems familiar, Almodovar was initially tapped to direct Brokeback Mountain but turned it down. He said in an interview last June that he,
never believed that [Hollywood] would give me complete freedom and independence to make what I wanted.”
Strange Way of Life premieres at Cannes Film Festival next month. A wide release date has not been announced.
Watch.
