Sometimes it seems there are only a few dozen stories that Hollywood keeps retelling over and over and over. If it’s not Frankenstein or Dracula, it’s Batman or Superman. The writer J.M. Barrie created Peter Pan over 100 years ago, and we’ve been seeing it mounted on the stage and screen for decades ever since with Peter usually played by a woman for some bizarre reason. Alison Williams will do it live on December 4 on NBC, with Christopher Walken as Hook. But a new big screen action adventure is out next summer that follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland where he finds both fun and danger. He ultimately discovers his destiny —to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan. It stars Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund, as Hook, and Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily. (…and if you look fast you’ll see model Cara Delevingne as an alluring mermaid.) It looks pretty spectacular (especially if compared to Spielberg’s mess, Hook) Watch.
