Key looks from the Maison Margiela Autumn-Winter 2015 ‘Artisanal’ Collection designed by John Galliano, shown this morning at the Grand Palais as part of Paris Haute Couture Week, featuring collage-like creations using burlap and tulle and torn netting and trompe l’oeil mirrors. Pretty spectacular and strangely… wearable? I would rock all of the outfits below (except maybe the mesh. A girl has to have SOME dignity).
One Facebook commenter summed it up: “All pieces respect Maison Margiela’s DNA codes faithfully (deconstruction, recycling, intricate shapes and minimalist look, but with hard work involved). This time Mr. Galliano managed to add more elements of his personal aesthetic and created a synergy that may sound illogical, but once we got to see it matelialized it makes too much sense … Pure art, there’s no doubt of it. From this beautiful suit shown on the runway by Molly Bair to that flamboyant and complex wedding gown modeled by Irina Liss, the entire collection shows the honest and brilliant mind behind it. Bravo!!!”
