Last weekend, Texas got a whole lot Dolly-er at the first annual Austin International Drag Festival. The three-day event was in support of the Austin International Drag Foundation, created to provide resources and opportunities for drag artists. And since this was one of the biggest events in drag in ages (we miss you Wigstock), tons of top queens and kings came out in full fotch, including Merrie Cherry and Horrorchata (above), Adore Delano, Spikey Van Dykey, Sherry Vine, Heidi Glüm, Lady Bunny, Kevin Aviance, Untitled Queen and Baby Bear, Courtney Act, Tammie Brown, Louvel, Chris of Hur, Goldie Peacock, Louisianna Purchase, Pandora Boxx, Charles Busch, Miss Coco Peru, Jiggly Caliente, Jackie Beat, Delta Work, and more! Check out the pics by Santiago Felipe.
“Drag artists play such an important part in our lives, whether you know it or not. They raise millions of dollars for charity. They expand our view of art through amazing creative performances. They also create conversation about gender roles in society. The world would be a pretty boring place without our Queens and Kings.”- Jamie Steward Bancroft (AID Founder)
