First daughter, Ashley Biden, gave her first TV interview ahead of her dad’s inauguration today and she subtly shaded the outgoing FLOTUS Melania.
Biden was interviewed Jenna Bush Hager on the Today show. Apparently Melania broke a 100-year-old tradition by not inviting Dr. Jill Biden to the White House for tea and a tour of the family living quarters, as she herself was graciously hosted by then First Lady Michelle Obama.
Asked whether it was true, Ashley said,
“No, I don’t think they’re doing the traditional protocol, which is unfortunate, but I think we’re all OK with it.”
The incoming president is certainly “OK” with it. When Trump announced he would not be attending the inauguration, President-elect Joe Biden said it was more than fine, calling Trump an “embarrassment” and unworthy of the office. He said it was
“…one of the few things we have ever agreed on. It’s a good thing him not showing up,”

Looks like the only member of Trump’s family who seems to have expressed interest is Ivanka, believe it or not? The outgoing First Daughter was apparently angling for an invitation to Biden’s inauguration. But, um, no…
According to Vanity Fair:
A White House source denied that the first daughter will attend the inauguration, and while we’re sure she would like people to think the Biden inaugural committee has welcomed her with open arms, it’s not actually clear that she would have been invited, in light of both the armed storming of the Capitol building and the fact that the proceedings are going to be pared down compared to past years.
Presumably, the daughter of the guy who sent an army to stop Biden from becoming president would not be on the A, B, or even C-list for such an event.
Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the United States of America today at noon.
Dr. Jill Biden will find her way around the White House just fine without having to be the gracious guest of an ungracious host.
