Today Halle has graced us with “Angel,” an absolutely gorgeous music video of empowerment, where Doja Cat summoned demons (and Dionne Warwick) for “Paint the Town Red.”
This is her first song out since the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, and her first solo single. She and sister Chloë Bailey were hand-picked by Beyoncé herself and made their mark as Chloë x Halle.
Watch.
For her part, Doja Cat has been feeling the heat in more ways than one lately. Before we get into that, here’s a still to pique some interest:

Doja has been beefing with fans because her new boyfriend has faced some unsavory accusations, but some folks with lively theories think her recent antics are part of the album’s marketing. Via Vulture:
They believe her actions are the work of her new alter ego Scarlet, devised to promote her upcoming album. She still has someone’s attention, after all.
At the very least Doja Cat (or Scarlet) will introduce more people to Dionne Warwick’s timeless track “Walk on By,” which is heavily sampled. Maybe some fans of the video will even get into Ingmar Bergman, whose films are heavily influential in the video style.
