Embattled, federally indicted, twice-impeached ex POTUS Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail on Saturday with some of his greatest hits.
This is his first public response since the DOJ unsealed its 37 count indictment laying out the government’s case against the former president and an aide, Walter Nauta, who mishandled classified documents.
He told the crowd in Columbus, Georgia that,
This is a political hit job.
Republicans are treated far different at the Justice Department than Democrats.
I stand before you today as the only candidate who has what it takes to smash this corrupt system and to truly drain the swamp and I’m the only one that they don’t want to do it.
The ridiculous and baseless indictment of me by the Biden Administration’s weaponized department of injustice will go down as among the most horrific abuses of power in the history of our country,.”
Well, you can’t say he’s not consistent. We all heard that schtick before.
So, DOJ just made all those 37 counts up, along with the evidence? No matter. He bounces so easily from “I didn’t do anything wrong” to “those are my files” at the drop of a red MAGA hat.
He of course described special counsel Jack Smith as “deranged” and said the case against him was a
joke.”
Ha, Ha. The Espionage Act, which HE made a federal crime to go after Hillary Clinton. Hilarious.
Trump’s remarks were a rehash of his first word salad rally after last summer’s FBI search of Mar-A-Lago. Speaking in Wilkes-Barre, PA last September, he accused Biden of weaponizing federal law enforcement in what he said was,
one of the most shocking abuses of power by any administration in American history.”
Funny how his accusations describe his own actions. Remember
Lock her up..?”
Most of his chief rivals like Nikki Haley, former VP Mike Pence and the evil Ron DeSantis have all danced around his latest indictment, also accusing Biden and the government of overreach.
But former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is his chief critic in the 2024 race said,
This is irresponsible conduct…
the conduct that Donald Trump engaged in was completely self-inflicted.
The bigger issue for our country is, is this the type of conduct that we want from someone who wants to be president of the United States?”
I hate to agree with Chris Chistie, but I feel like I took crazy pills that ANYONE has to convince the public that Trump’s handling of classified docs is BAD.
Even Fox News has had enough of Trump’s lies. They interrupted their live broadcast of the rally in Georgia to say there is absolutely no evidence to back up the Big Lie. pic.twitter.com/sLpaOw9D8f
