It’s time once again for us in UK office to stick our necks on the line
and place our predictions for the television event of the year, the
Eurovision Song Contest.
The real story this year, though, is
that our favourite acts won’t be there at all. In last night’s
semi-final, the continental audience somehow missed the blinding talent
of “Gypsy.cz” – in which a Czech Eminem raps “I can’t think that
easily” while wearing a big red cape. They won’t be there on Saturday.
still, “I Don’t Wanna Put-in” – Georgia’s entry featuring a man with
more hair on his lower neck than on his face – was banned last month
with its poorly veiled protest about Putin’s invasion of South Ossetia.
And so we come to our tip – which is not Greece’s
little doubt our Euro-mates will fall in love with Norway’s Alexander
Rybak. Although his violin-playing is mimed to the point of ridicule,
at least there’s a chorus. And no key change. Watch him here.
