Look what I found! I was pulling my luggage out of the closet to pack for Mexico City and an old art piece fell to the ground. It just happened to be a photo collage I made of Linda Simpson in NYC back in 1994. It was odd, as I’m meeting Linda in Mexico City tomorrow. For those of you who don’t know Linda Simpson she is one of my all time besties and a vital artery to the NYC drag and art scene.
Linda helped connect me, Steven Corfe and James St. James with a lot of the NYC artists in the RuPaul Drag Race art show. I met her through the legendary drag queen Tabboo! and became her cameraman for most of “Party Talk,” a show that aired on the very first gay TV channel, G.E.T. (Gay Entertainment Television). Although it’s not in Wikipedia, this entry from Bits and Bytes and this SEC filing prove it was real! As I recall, the only payment I got was the two damaged photos of Linda that I used to make the artwork above. The video clip is piece of archive footage I shot of her and my crush at the time Trane (who now bartends at LA’s Faultline). Enjoy Linda!
