Last month, NASA asked the public to help name the International Space Station’s next module. Individuals were asked to vote online, choosing one of four NASA suggestions – Earthrise, Legacy, Serenity or Venture – or writing in a name. Interestingly, the write-in went awry when comedian Stephen Colbert urged viewers of The Colbert Report to write in his name. To no surprise, they complied and with 230,539 votes the name “Colbert” will now be the name of the new international space station. Unfortunately, NASA reserves the right to choose an appropriate name and will not officially decide until April, promising to give top vote-getters the most consideration. (via Variety)
