This video of Tish & Snooky and the Fabulous Pop Tarts performing one mythical night in the 1980s at New York’s Limelight was just sent to us by writer-producer Gabriel Rotello. Says he:
Like most drag addicts jonesing for a fix, I greatly appreciate the WOW Report’s tireless efforts to promote Drag History Month. Especially in light of the upcoming supershow Ru Paul’s Drag Race.
But what some of the childrens may not know is that Drag Race‘s executive producers, Fenton and Randy, once did a bit of cross-dressing themselves, back in the wondrous world of downtown NY in the ’80s.
This might have been lost to the mists of time and substance-addled memory, except that (like everything else on the downtown scene in the ’80s) it was captured on tape by the immortal Nelson Sullivan.
And now, like everything in the techo-saturated ’00s, it’s lovingly preserved on YouTube.
