Glorious Pete Doherty, who continues to write new pages in rock’s book of bad-boy behavior, showed up today an hour late and looking natty for his appearance in a London court, where he pleaded guilty to seven counts of possession of heroin, cocaine, crack, and pot. Afterward, he created “total chaos” outside the courthouse, kicking the microphone out of the hand of one in the phalanx of reporters lying in wait for him.
And according to a not-surprising report in the NY Post‘s “Page Six,” Rolling Stone writer Mark Binelli was privy to Doherty’s inner sanctum in seamy Hackney, where the boy held nothing back and apparently never said “off the record,” bless him. He kick-started the interview by doing a bump of heroin.
“Over the next three hours, Doherty will also smoke crack, shoot heroin and take an ‘ecstasy’ pill,” Bi nelli relates. “He does all of this casually, and openly, except for the shooting up, which he performs near the kitchenette, with his back to us. He offers me heroin and ecstasy but not crack. I decline. The more drugs Doherty does, the more he seems to relax. He never becomes incoherent, though occa sionally he seems confused.”
